"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (Matt 10:10) Jesus said that. And it's the story of my life.
I ate at the thief's table for fifteen years, and I didn't like what he was serving. While I have a lot of fun childhood memories, my life without Christ was consistently clouded with callousness, resentment, and pain. Even when all that I could have dreamed of was given to me as a fourteen year old, I was still as empty as when I had nothing. Even a loving, supporting family did not satisfy my starving soul.
Then one day I crawled back into my mother's womb and started life all over...
No, that's not how it went. Here's the way it happened: The day I turned fifteen I was dead, and the day after that I realized it and was born again. See, this is why I'm so grateful to God – because He gave me life—and when I threw it away the first time, He gave me life again. I was saved the day after my fifteenth birthday, and God has been crashing into my life with waves of love, grace, peace, joy, and blessing ever since. I've been feasting at the Lord's table for nearly eight years now, and one morsel is better that the whole lifetime supply of garbage I endured before.
God won the war for my soul, and He continues to fight for my heart so I can fight greater battles with Him. And nothing has ever been nearly as thrilling and fulfilling as walking with and going to battle with my Lord.
Who am I? I'm a disciple and friend of Jesus Christ and an adopted son of my Father God, and the rest is just details. But the details are a lot of fun too: I'm a lieutenant in the Air Force and a recent graduate of Cedarville University. I also keep writing and speaking about purity and similar topics as much as possible – I love it! I live near Tacoma, Washington but I grew up near Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio was pretty cool, but I must admit that the snowboarding is a bit better out here. I've grown quite fond of the 14,410-foot volcano right outside my window (Mt. Rainier.)
A mentor of mine once said, "The grass is always greenest where you water it." I must admit that the grass is pretty green where I stand. I'm having a blast doing the things I love: being a servant of Jesus Christ, a brother, a son, a friend, a church member, an airman, an author, and an aspiring multi-instrument-musician/ chef/ ballroom-dancer/ plant-grower/ snowboarder. I don't know if I have a day or a hundred years left here on earth, but I do know that either way, my life has just begun considering what's ahead. And I praise God for that!
